Kid Rock’s interview on Fox News

Fox News’ Megyn Kelly needed a guest to come on her show last week to weight in on a recent CBS poll showing that Americans want a smaller government with less services. And who better than to offer their expert advice on the merits of hillbilly government than Southern Rock star and millionaire Robert James Ritchie, better known as Kid Rock.

The Michigan resident waxed nostalgic about “cool stuff” that Detroit automakers used to make, such as “57 Chevys,” and “everyone one of them red, white and blue.” Kid Rock then describes a truly frightening and apocalyptic European future for America, when all Americans will be covered by universal healthcare, live in condos and drive environmentally friendly smart cars. Perish the thought!

When Kid Rock first appeared on Fox News’ “America Live” with Megyn Kelly, he wondered aloud why he was chosen to talk about “America’s preference for small government.” “I have no idea why I’m here,” laughed Rock. And later in the interview he acknowledged, “I’m not that educated in the field of political science.”

But the popular Southern Rock and Country Music performer, had plenty to say about his version of the vanishing “American Dream” that seemed to have come straight out of a Ford truck commercial:

“Detroit has so much style — the cars we built,” he said. “Not only the cars but the tanks and airplanes we built during the war. Such ingenuity. Cool stuff, ‘57 Chevys. It came in 17 colors, everyone one of them red, white and blue. But now … it just reminds me of Europe. Everyone’s going to be driving a smart car and living in a condo. And that’s not the American Dream, and you see that starting to die.”

Kid Rock then described his American nightmare that members of the teabagger movement can surely relate too:

“I have nightmares that I’m going to wake up and everyone’s driving a Prius and living in a condo and we’re all getting health insurance,” said Kid Rock.

Uncle Kracker promotes Album Happy Hour with Tourdates US.

Detroit-based Uncle Kracker  has plotted a spring course through the eastern portion of the US as he continues supporting last fall’s “Happy Hour.”

The DJ/singer/songwriter born Matt Shafer will focus on the Midwest and parts of the East Coast, beginning with a March 11 show in Flint, MI. The month-long outing will venture through clubs in 24 cities before concluding April 10 in Lynchburg, VA. Details are included below.
“Happy Hour,” Uncle Kracker’s fourth studio set, hit retailers last September, peaking at No. 38 on The Billboard 200 and at No. 13 on the magazine’s Top Rock Albums chart. Produced by Grammy Award-winning Rob Cavallo (Kid Rock, Green Day), the set marks the musician’s first new release since 2004′s “Seventy Two & Sunny.”

I co-produced my last couple of records, so it was nice to write something and take it to a producer and let him bring out what worked,” Uncle Kracker states at his website. “Sometimes you can be too attached to a song to be open-minded about taking suggestions from anybody.

The video for the album’s lead single, “Smile,” is currently streaming at his official website.

Tickets are already on sale for Uncle Kracker’s gigs on March 19 at Austin’s Fuel Room in Libertyville, IL, and June 4 at the 5th Street Beach Stage in Virginia Beach, VA. Additional public ticket sales begin this Friday, February 12, with most prices set in the affordable $25-and-under range.

Tyra Juliette joins the Twisted Brown Trucker Band

Tyra Juliette, an established singer and songwriter from New York, NY will be joining the Twisted Brown Trucker band on the new tour as a backup vocalist alongside Jessica Wagner.

Info over Miss Tyra Juliette
After returning from the U.K , where I was touring as a back-up vocalist on Jive Records, I began writing, recording and performing professionally in NYC. Some credits include co-writing a song on Jr. Vasquez’s Earth Music Album (Tommy Boy Records), jingle recording, singing the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden and Meadowlands Arena, and appearing as a featured vocalist on MTV, Fox 5, and UPN 9. For the past 7 years I have been performing with various cover bands (over 100 gigs per year) throughout the tri-state area. Some venues include The Rainbow Room, The Waldorf-Astoria, The St. Regis, Ciprianis, The Ritz-Carlton and more. I have also hosted various parties. I am currently recording a new album with musical mastermind Brockett Parsons, and I am also the featured vocalist in his original project “The Electroride” Most recently, Brockett and I both got hooked up with major tours. He is on the road with Lady Gaga, and I am now the newest member of Kid Rocks Twisted Brown Trucker band. Brockett and I also collaborated with DJ Leny Fontanna to come up with “NiteTime”, the crossover dance hit that has spent 13 weeks in the top five on Maxima FM and is currently number 2. The song is in heavy rotation overseas.

Kid Rock Borgata Events Center Sun Feb 14 2010

Chocolate consumption may soar on Valentine’s Day but Kid Rock wasn’t serving up much of the sweet stuff Sunday night at a sold-out show at the Borgata Events Center in Atlantic City.

The skinny yet surprisingly fit front man with the stringy dirty-blond hair said he’d been trying to think of the perfect song for the occasion. “Dunno if you can relate to this, but I can: ‘Love Stinks’,” he said. The group promptly slammed into the 1980 J. Geils Band track.

Backed by his dozen-strong Twisted Brown Trucker Band, the Michigan native who was born Robert Ritchie offered the crowd a genre-mashing buffet of aural comfort food.

It may not have been healthy, but the fans gobbled it up.

There were loads of rock covers – presented whole or in pieces – and a smattering of sound-alike originals.

The two-hour-plus set was not unlike “classic rock” radio fare: time-tested, familiar.

Kid Rock, 39, didn’t have any new product to promote.

Yes, he did pick up a sponsorship from Jim Beam last year to tout the new black-cherry-flavored bourbon (large inflated bottles of same onstage). But he’s still working with Rick Rubin on his long-expected follow-up to 2007′s Rock N Roll Jesus.

He rolled out his hits – many of which are bawdy self-celebrations of partyin’, sexin’, etc.

Yet there was also the rueful “Picture,” a cheaters ballad that has Rock reflect: “Been fuelin’ up on cocaine and whiskey/ Wish I had a good girl to miss me.”

He led the sing-along to “All Summer Long,” his nostalgic hit off Jesus. A Confederate flag unfurled as the band assayed the song’s melding of Warren Zevon’s “Werewolves of London” and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama.”

He brought the rap-metal thunder of “Bawitdaba” from his 1998 breakthrough album Devil Without a Cause. (Drummer Stephanie Eulinberg carried the beat with convulsive precision.)

He proved once again that taste is subjective, adding new lines to the anthemic “Cowboy”: “You might eat tofu, watch soccer, and drive your foreign car away/ But . . . I’mma stick to baseball, apple pie and Chevrolet.”
