Clarkston was abuzz Thursday morning as a familiar vintage 1967 Lincoln Continental drove down M15 to the Clarkson Union restaurant.
Kid Rock emerged from his ragtop Lincoln as Food Network cameras rolled, capturing his arrival to meet spiky-haired chef Guy Fieri, who stepped out of his classic 1968 red Camaro Super Sport. The two chatted, then walked into the Union, where more footage was shot for Fieri’s show “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.”
The cable show features Fieri visiting one-of-a-kind local eateries around the U.S., chatting with regulars about each joint and debriefing the chef about signature dishes.
The show will air in about six months, when presumably we’ll get to see Rock talking about his favorite Clarkston Union dishes as Fieri samples the fare.
We can only hope that Rock will also rattle on about the wild wedding reception he and Pam Anderson held there in 2006.
Both lanes of M15 were closed for the shoot, which happened at midday and involved about 30-40 crew members. Rock signed autographs for fans, and he really did drive the vintage Lincoln in from his pad in nearby Ortonville. Fieri, on the other hand, merely acted as if he drove the Camaro in along the dusty byways. His car was trailered in, and the overly moussed chef got in and pretended he’d just driven in from California.
Reportedly, Fieri was also seen at the Polish Café in Hamtramck on Monday, and was due to return there Friday.
